Better Business Bureau BBB
I was taking a little late summer holiday. I received an email from someone from my church I did not really know. The gist of the email was she had hired someone to do moving for her, and it turned out they must have used a hatchet to load her goods. She had seven or eight pieces of furniture damage and they had ripped her carpet. She wanted to know if I knew the fellow or his company, I knew of him. His reputation was to pickup “movers” on days he had work with very little training. So I decided to check the Better Business Bureau sure enough the company in question had an F rating and three unresolved complaints. So what I told her to do was write a letter or written claim to be sure she got her claim on file, demand satisfaction. I would say if that does not work she could file a complaint with the BBB, but, based on the unresolved complaints I am not sure it will do any good. My best advice is whenever hiring a mover or another service check the BBB. My father in law always says an arrow continues to go the way it came. A little homework before you begin shopping can save a ton of regret. Select three highly rated movers get prices from each, find out if they do have insurance and ask about their claims policy. The website for the BBB is http://www.bbb.org/.
